Do not operate for a long time in high humidity, e.g. leaving a door or window open. • In the cooling mode, if it is operated in a room with high humidity (80%RH or more) for a long time, water condensed in the air conditioner may drop and may wet and spoil furniture, etc. Ventilate well when used together with a stove, etc. • An oxygen shortage may occur. Do not leave on installation stand which is damaged. • The unit may drop or fall down and cause an injury. Do not step on the indoor/outdoor unit and do not put anything on it. • It may cause an injury through dropping or falling down. Press the Jet Cool button to operate the speed cooling mode and the unit will operate in super high fan speed on cooling mode for 30 minutes. To cancel the Jet Cool mode, press the Jet Cool button again or the fan speed button or the room temperature setting button and the unit will operate in high fan speed on cooling mode. or or or ❏ During the JET COOL function at any moment, the A/C starts to blow the cool air at g extremely high speed for 30 minutes setting the room temp. automatically to 18°C. It is n i especially used to cool the room temp. in the shortest time in a hot summer. t o In heat pump mode the JET COOL function is not available. o h s ❏ In order to return to the normal cooling mode from the JET COOL mode, you just press e l either the operation mode selection button, airflow volume selection or temp. setting button b u or the JET COOL button again. o r T 10 Airflow Direction Procedure Airflow Direction Control The airflow direction can be adjusted as desired by using the remote controller. This is effective when you want to cool yourself directly, such as after taking a bath. 1 2 3 Press the Start/Stop Button. (Confirm the unit on operation.) Press the Airflow Direction Control Button and the vertical louvers swing up and down automatically. Press again the Airflow Direction Control Button to set the vertical louver at the desired airflow direction. Caution T r o • Always use the remote controller to adjust the airflow direction. The operation will be started if the power button is pressed. If you want to stop operation, re-press the button. C So there is no need of activating this function by pressing any key or button. In the initial mode, the fan operates at a low speed and the compressor starts 2.5~3 minutes later. s As the compressor starts, the fan speed also resumes its previous setting mode. Additionally, in order to cancel auto restart operation press power button let it be pressed for about p 6 seconds. To operate auto restart operation again, press power button for about 6 seconds as well. i T g n Helpful information i t o Fan speed and cooling capacity. o The cooling capacity indicated in the specification is the h s value when the fan speed is set to high, and the capacity will e l be lower at low or medium fan speed. b u High fan speed is recommended when you wish to cool the o room quickly. r T 12 High Speed Care and maintenance of the air conditioner S a CAUTION: Before performing any maintenance, turn off the main power to the system. f e Indoor Unit t y P r Grille, Case, and Remote Control ❏ Turn the system off before cleaning. To clean, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use bleach or abrasives. NOTE: Supply power must be disconnected before cleaning the indoor unit. Air filters (behind front panel) Air inlet vent Air outlet vent Vertical louver Horizontal louver AIR FILTERS The air filters behind the front grille should be checked and cleaned once every 2 weeks or ❏ Never use any of the followings: • Water hotter than 40°C Could cause deformation and/or discoloration. • Volatile substances Could damage the surfaces of the air conditioner. Powder Gasoline Lift the front access panel and pull the filter tab 1 slightly forward to remove the filter. e c a u t io n s O p e r a t in g I n s t r u c t io n 2 more often if neccessary. 3 4 Outdoor Unit The heat exchanger coils and panel vents of the outdoor unit should be checked regularly. If clogged with dirt or soot, the heat exchanger and panel vents may be professionally steam cleaned. Air intake vents NOTE: Dirty or clogged coils will reduce the operating efficiency of the system Air outlet Clean the filter with a vacuum or warm, soapy s water. • If dirt is conspicuous, wash with a solution of detergent in lukewarm water. CAUTION Turn off the circuit breaker when the air conditioner is not going to be used for a long time. Dirt may collect and may cause a fire. Remove the batteries from the remote control. Operation Tips Clean the air filter and install it in the indoor unit. (Refer to page 13 for cleaning filters.) Check that the air inlet and outlet of the indoor/outdoor unit are not blocked. d n a e r a C s pi T g n it o o hs e l bu o r T Do not overcool the room. This is not good for the health and wastes electricity. Make sure that the doors and windows are shut tight. Avoid opening doors and windows as much as possible to keep the cool air in the room. Keep blinds or curtains closed. Do not let direct sunshine enter the room when the air conditioner is in operation. Clean the air filter regularly. Blockages in the air filter reduce the airflow and lower cooling and dehumidifying effects. Clean at least once every two weeks. Keep the room temperature uniform. Adjust the vertical and horizontal airflow direction to ensure a uniform temperature in the room. Ventilate the room occasionally. Since windows are kept closed, it is a good idea to open them and ventilate the room now and then. 14 Before you call for service... S a f Troubleshooting Tips! If the fault persists, please r e contact your dealer or service center. c a u t i Case Explanation See page o n s The air conditioner does not operate. The room has a peculiar odor. It seems that condensation is leaking from the air conditioner. Air conditioner does not operate for about 3 minutes when restarted. Does not cool or heat effectively. The air conditioner operation is noisy. Remote control display is faint, or no display at all. Crack sound is heard. NOTE • Have you made a mistake in timer operation? • Has the fuse blown or has the circuit breaker - been tripped? O p • Check that this is not a damp smell exuded by e the walls, carpet, furniture, or cloth items in the - r a room. t i n g • Condensation occurs when the airflow from I - n the air conditioner cools the warm room air. s t r u c • This is the protector of the mechanism. t i o • Wait about three minutes and operation will - n begin. s • Is the air filter dirty? T • Are the batteries depleted? r o • Are the batteries inserted in the opposite (+) 4 u b and (-) directions? l e s • This sound is generated by the h o expansion/constriction of the front panel, etc. - o due to changes of temperature. t i n g T i WATER RESISTANT: The outdoor side of this appliance is WATER RESISTANT. p s The indoor side is not water resistant and should not be exposed to excess water. 15
