american LITT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELEMENT ADAPTOR KIT ADANGER ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD! Turn off the electrical supply to the water heater before removing any access panels or servicing the water heater. Failure to follow these instructions could result in property damage, personal injury or death. 1. Drain the tank by following the water heater manufacturer's instructions. 2. Remove front access cover plate(s) and insulation. 3. Remove plastic or cardboard cover(s) 4. Disconnect wire from element(s). 5. Remove element(s) by turning bolts to the left (counterclockwise). 6. Determine gasket style. Use only one gasket per heating element. 7. Place flat flange gasket OR 3/8" O-ring gasket (whichever applies) behind Adapt-A-Flange. 8. Add thermostat bracket and bolt securely to tank flange 9. Place thin O-ring gasket over threads of the screw type heating element unitl gasket rest against back of screw plug. Be certain that gasket is not pinched or crimped. 10. Screw element into Adapt-A-Flange. Note: Special screw element wrenches are available. 11. Follow supplied with element kit. 12. Connect wires to element(s). 13. Replace removed plastic or cardboard cover(s), front access cover plate(s) and insulation. 14. Following manufacturer's instructions, fill tank and system with water and check leaks. NOTICE Before turning on the electrical supply, be certain that tank is full of water. Applying electrical current to elements not submerged in water will destroy elements and void warranty. See manufacturer's installation manual for filling instructions. 15.
